I was so excited to start this book because I loved the story from book 1. Minor spoiler in that this book does NOT continue the story from book 1. This is a prequel that starts at the beginning of what's going on with the silos and catches up to the very end of the story from book 1. It gives some very cool background initially, but it was not the story I wanted to read after book one, I wanted to know what happened after. Hopefully that will be book 3, which I'll be starting soon. Also, this book had serious 'second book syndrome.' That's what I'm calling it at least. There really wasn't much as far as plot points that get resolved. It was kind of a let down in several ways. Hoping book 3 will be better.

Very odd. This is supposedly one of the founding fathers of modern steampunk, but I found it quite odd and realy not enjoyable. It makes me wonder if I actually don't like steampunk very much and I'm more into industrial/diesel punk.
